May 2025 Result

The chart below shows the change in my assets. The rightmost point indicates my assets at the end of May 2025, which totaled 47.79 million yen (approximately $0.33 million).

The month-over-month change in assets was -0.33%.

The Nikkei 225 rose slightly.

The Nikkei 225 rose slightly. However, stock prices remain volatile due to President Trump's remarks, and the market seems unstable.
In Japan, major companies have released their final earnings reports for the fiscal year, and performance forecasts for FY2026 have also been announced. Some export-oriented companies have issued forecasts anticipating a deterioration in profits due to potential increases in tariffs imposed by President Trump.
If the U.S. tariffs do not rise as much as previously feared, there is a possibility that initial forecasts could be revised upward, which could serve as a factor driving stock prices higher.

Finally

Well, this will be my last blog post sent from Tokyo. As I mentioned in my previous post, I am changing jobs and will be moving to Kyoto. It will be a big move, with a distance of over 360 km (223.7 miles) from the capital city of Tokyo to the ancient city of Kyoto. I plan to earn a higher salary in my new location and use it to purchase as many stocks as possible.

Investing is all about volume.

I decided to move to a company with better pay, even if it means working harder, rather than staying at a comfortable but low-paying company. If my take-home pay after taxes increases by 1 million yen (approximately $6,900), that's a difference of over 10 million yen (approximately $69,000) over 10 years. Additionally, in future job changes, I can negotiate a salary increase based on the amount I receive after the raise.

I want to work hard so that when I look back in the future, I can say that this decision was the right one.
